Q1: Where does Zoom2u operate?
Zoom2u operates the platform in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Adelaide, Canberra and Perth.
Q2. How long is the onboarding process?
It's quick and easy. It involves a video as to who you are and why you want to drive on the platform, uploading documents and some easy other steps like processing a test booking to get used to the app. But you can always use the resource centre to brush up on things that you need to know! Register as a driver HERE.
Q3. What do I need to Drive on the Zoom2u Platform?
- A valid Drivers License which permits you to drive unaccompanied in Australia legally.
- P1 Australian driver license or above (or International equivalent)
- You'll need a later version of either an Android or iPhone to run the App efficiently.
- Have a reliable vehicle (either a motorbike, car, or van)
- Valid registration / insurance on your vehicle
- Be able to understand and speak English and follow simple instructions.
Q4. Can I use a rented vehicle?
Yes, as long as it's insured and you have the correct associated license to legally drive it.
Q5. What kind of vehicle can I use?
You may register with any vehicle including a bicycle, motorcycle, scooters, car (sedan or hatchback), SUVs (4×4), van, ute, and truck. It doesn’t necessarily have to be yours, as long as it has a comprehensive insurance coverage.
Q1: Do I need to be online at specific hours?
No, you have complete flexibility on when you work. You can work a few hours or as many days as you like during the week. Simply just update your status to online when you're ready to start accepting jobs.
Q2. When is the best time to be online?
Based on historical data the busiest time of day to get work is from about 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday.
Q3. How can I get support on the platform?
We offer chat (within the app) support for Drivers from 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday and between 9am to 6pm on the weekends.
Q4. Is Police Check a requirement?
Not all customers require a police check but it may make more work available to you if you have one.
Q5. What items should I keep in my vehicle for deliveries?
We suggest the following:
- Safety vest (high visibility)
- Car phone charger
- Phone cradle
- E-Tag
- Trolley/Cart (if you’d like to take on heavy deliveries)
- Steel cap safety shoes can be required for some sites.
Q1: How much can I earn with Zoom2u?
The more deliveries you complete, the more you'll earn. The amount you'll earn on each delivery varies as it depends on the customer, the distance and the timeframe required for the delivery.
All platforms work in a similar way; the further you drive and the faster the customer wants it; the more you'll get paid.
Also what's unique about Zoom2u is that if you think a job is too cheap, you can suggest a new price for that delivery and the customer could accept it.This is something no other platform will offer you.
Q2. How and when do drivers get paid?
As part of the services that we provide to you, we will invoice the customers for you and receive the delivery fee on your behalf. The delivery fees less our licence fees for the previous 7 days of bookings will be directed into your account each Friday.
You will receive an email with details of the payments.
Q3. Why do I need an Australian Business Number (ABN), and how do I apply for one?
"As an indepdent sole trader/business on the Zoom2u platform you must obtain an ABN for taxation purposes. It's free to apply for an ABN and it takes approximately 10 minutes. You can apply for your ABN by clicking here.
Q4. Do I need to be GST registered?
No, you do not need to be GST registered. You can operate as a business, a sole trader not registered for GST, or a sole trader registered for GST. Each have their advantages and disadvantages. We would suggest you check with an appopropriate resource like the Australia Tax Office or an Accountant to decide what's best for you and your own personal circumstances.
Q5. Does Zoom2u pay for fuel, parking, fines or tolls?
As an independent business operator on the platform, you are responsible for all expenses incurred during your deliveries.
Q5. How do I go about payment disputes?
Your first stop should be Customer Service who will record your dispute, and escalate it most appropriate person if required.
Q1: How do I manage my fatigue when on the road?
There are plenty of ways to manage your fatigue when on the road, including:
- 1. Getting enough rest: you should be aiming for 7-9 hours of sleep per night, and take rest breaks during the day to recharge
- 2. Stay hydrated: dehydration can make you feel fatigued, so get yourself a large water bottle so you always have water on hand
- 3. Eat a healthy diet: eating a balanced diet helps with energy levels. Make sure you have snacks on the road!
- 4. Understand the signs: if your stating to feel sluggish/fatigued, it's important to recognise this and consider going offline, that's the beauty of working when you want!
Q2. What safety equipment should I consider having with me when on the road?
Having the right setup and equipment is essential to a safe working environment, so we recommend the following items as a start:
- Safety vest (high visibility) - simply because you increase your chances of being seen, whether that be by other road users, or when you're delivering to a site that has moving machinery
- Phone cradle - so you can stay handsfree
- Trolley/cart - for those heavier deliveries
- Steel cap shoes - to give your ankle support and grip, especially on those rainy delivery days
Q1: Which bookings will I see when I'm online?
Any jobs that are within 100km will be offered to the nearest driver of the booking pick up location. Best to stay online to get notified of any jobs that come up real time. You’ll then have the option to choose whichever job you’d like to do or not.
Q2. What will I be delivering?
The majority of the customers using the platform send parcels and cartons, but they can send anything they want! Zoom2u typically doesn't deliver restaurant or fast food or alcohol.
Q3. Can I choose which deliveries I want to do?
Absolutely! You can accept, decline or even suggest your own price on all jobs or runs.
Q4. What happens if I prefer not to deliver alcohol?
That's totally fine, you have the option to opt out of doing alcohol deliveries.
Q5. What delivery services are available?
We offer 3 x services including Zoom Now (asap), Zoom Fast (short window), and Zoom (all day). If the customer has booked a particular service, it's expected you deliver within that designated timeframe.
Q1: What is a 'team'?
This is a unique function to Zoom2u. Once you've registered and mastered deliveries and using the app, you can create your own team and earn income from the deliveries that you assign to them.
Q2. How do I set up my team?
You can set up your own team via the app and onboard the team with the help of our team.
Q3. How do I pay my team?
Once you've set up a team and assigned them bookings we will provide you with an invoice for you and your team at the end of the pay period and pay you for all of the confirmed deliveries. Once received it is up to you to pay your team as soon as possible. Zoom2u do not pay your team members directly.
Q4. How much would I earn having a team?
The more deliveries you and your team complete, the more you will earn. It's up to you whether you take a margin from the deliveries or employ them directly and pay them an hourly rate. But it's up to you to make sure they perform and conduct the deliveries to the expectations of your customers!
Q5. How many team members should I have?
Depending on the city and your own workload, you can have as many team members as you like. However, too many team members can be hard to manage so we recommend you start with one or two and see how you go!
