Smashcake started as a quirky alternative to a celebration cake.
Kylene Lovat, founder of Smashcake thought it would be fun to design a smash-able kind of pinata cake filled with lollies BUT designed to look like a cake and so SMASHCAKE! was born!
In 2009, Kylene began experimenting with various designs and introduced them to her son’s pre-school. It wasn’t long before the orders started flowing in. Only months later she launched her online shop www.smashcake.com.au
When asked what was her motivation? “I wanted to create my dream job doing something I’m incredibly passionate about, (I’ve been making chocolates since age 10), which I could fit in around my young family.”

Smashcakes has become a popular brand that clients recognise for its wonderfully fun and unique designs, personalised service and innovator of the original Smashcake pinata concept.
In the famous words of Veruca Salt from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory customers demand “give it to me now!”.
Growth spread like wildfire throughout the eastern suburbs, and it was not long before Kylene was faced with her next challenge. “The issue I had was that word spread quickly and I starting receiving requests for my products from customers across parts of Sydney I could not physically find the time to drive to quickly enough. I Spent several years and a considerable amount of time researching and trialling courier companies and transport options to overcome the challenges of delivering fragile and heat sensitive cakes but couldn’t find a company that confidently offered a reliable service”.
Sustainable growth that scales
In 2016 Kylene came in contact with Zoom2u and the beginning of a strong partnership formed “I immediately felt comfortable with Zoom2u” shares Kylene “I had finally found a company that understood my product and the importance of having it delivered to customers in a fast and timely manner, whilst offering great friendly face-to-face service to my clients.”
3 Years later Zoom2u has delivered thousands of Smashcakes across Sydney when asked why Kylene continues to do business with Zoom2u she says “It’s simple; there’s not been a single breakage, I have so many happy customers telling me how impressed they’ve been with the outstanding service Zoom2U offers. They love the convenience of the real time tracking and how friendly and careful the drivers are. Zoom2u has enabled me to service customers across Sydney as well as take on many corporate clients who require regular CBD deliveries. It’s hard to choose one highlight says Kylene however she was super chuffed to be asked to create Smashcakes for the ‘Charlie and The Chocolate Factory Musical- Golden Ticket Oz!’
Other exciting projects include the creation of a Smashcake for Darrel Lea’s 90th Birthday, The Chupa Chups 60th Birthday, Jetstars 14th Birthday, The Iconics 7th Birthday, GWS Giants Membership celebrations and MG Motors collaboration with the NBL.
